Hello my fellow mind geeks! I understand how hard the anatomy of our brain is. That is why I have decided to divide it into 3 parts; hoping that learning about the brain will be just as incredibly interesting and who knows, even entertaining! The human brain is one of the few parts of our body, which grows and never stops. I am not a neuroscientist but I believe that our brain is the most powerful and marvelous creation of Mother Nature.
In the previous article -“Main Parts of Human Brain”-, ALU (arithmetic logic unit) the fundamental building block of the central processing unit of a computer was mention. ALU is a digital circuit used to perform arithmetic and logic operations. For those operations, ALU loads data from input registers (small amount of storage available as part of a CPU) and then the control unit tells the ALU what operation to perform on that data.
The results are stored in an output register from the ALU. Therefore, all information is stored in a form of binary numbers zero (0) and ones (1). This really make me feel like a student again as I, a 1st year undergraduate student, was taught digital circuit. Have a look at the image below - I really want to show you how a 4-bit ALU looks like.

Without a doubt, human brain is a miracle. In this article we will have a look at the cerebrum (the largest part of the brain), which is composed by the right and left hemisphere. Practically, it gets all the data from our environment and body and then sends that information’s to a specific part of the cerebrum.

The amazing part here is that our cerebrum reads the knowledge and takes the decision of what will happen next. But then again how our brain knows where to send each information? Do we have a part inside the two hemispheres that collects that information and then decides which cell is responsible for what?
As I mentioned before we have two hemispheres that are being separated by longitudinal fissure. Did you notice that our right half hemisphere controls the left side of the body and the left half controls the right side of the body? The two halves of cerebrum are linked by the corpus callosum, a bundle of neural fibers. The corpus callosum passes messages between the two halves so that they can communicate with one another.
I find myself asking the same question over and over again. Do we have a part inside the two hemispheres that collects data and then decide which cell is responsible for what? As I was reading, I learned that cerebrum is divided into four lobes. Maybe those four lobes do the job! So here they are:
Occipital lobe: found in the back of your cerebrum, it plays a role in processing visual information. This mean that it reads and translate the what where and how our eyes see.
Temporal lobes: We have two of those, one each hemisphere. We can find them close to where our ears are. According to the Spinalcord.com “temporal lobes plays a key role in auditory processing. This role includes perceiving sounds, assigning meaning to those sounds, and remembering sounds. Much of the auditory work of the temporal lobe is processed through the superior temporal gyrus, a temporal lobe structure that receives sound input directly from the ear. It also helps you understand language, retain visual memories, and both process and remember emotions.”
Frontal lobe: allows you to solve a complex task, undergo voluntary movement of your body parts, form complete sentences, and is responsible for your personality traits. What do you usually do when you are trying to focus? When you are thinking of something at work, or at school? I personally always place my elbow on the table and my hand on my forehead – and FUN FACT! I just realized that I place my hand on my forehead exactly where my frontal lobe is! Instinctively perhaps? Who knows?!
Parietal lobe: It is located between the frontal and occipital lobe and it is responsible for our sensation and feelings. For example: Think of a time where you stood very close to a fire – what did you instinct forced you to do? Step away from the fire maybe?! What did you do when you felt the heat?

That’s it for today guys. Have a beautiful day or night!
In the mind time,
“Remember, we are all unique!”
