Hello my fellows mind geeks! As you know, I have studied computer science. In my bachelor degree, we were studying how a computer carries out the instructions of a computer program by performing the basic operations. Those operations are arithmetic, logical, Input or output operations known as (I/O) etc.

As a way to make it more clear to us, our professor once said: “Humans have the brain that controls the human body and all its functions and it is protected in our skull. On the other hand, a computer has its own brain called the CPU (central processing unit) and one can find it inside the motherboard”

CPU - Computer Brain

However, from my experience in computer science, human brain and CPUs have so many differences. On the one hand, a computer and its functions is something man-made and on the other hand a human brain is something different and much bigger than CPUs.

Human Brain

The human brain is an amazing organ, capable of surprising feats of memory, susceptible to damage, and yet remarkably adaptable to change. Did you know that the human brain is a large mass of soft nerve tissue located in the skull {skull: the cranial portion of the central nervous system}?

Our brain totals in more or less 2% of our total body mass weight. Oh, that means that I’m two kg lighter – I’m not curvy, I’m just smart 😉.The average adult human brain weighs in at 1300 - 1400 grams, the average brain is around 15 cm long, and it literally "swims" inside the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF).

The CSF is protecting our brain from different injuries. For new-borns (infants), the brain weighs approximately 350 - 400 grams or three quarters of a pound. Is it so cool! Do you know how heavy a pound really is? I googled it guys. One pound is equal to 453.592 gram. The brain of a new-born baby is even lighter.

Below you can read some facts that researchers specializing on the human brain have found after years of researching:

  1. In men, the area associated with the perception of space tend to be larger than those in women (special recognition).

  2. In women, the areas associated with problem solving and emotional regulation, tend to be bigger than those of men.

  3. A man’s brain TEND TO (!) be bigger that a woman’s brain. Men's brain tend to be around 100 grams larger than women's, cause of their body weight.

That’s it for today guys. Have a beautiful day or night!

In the mind time,

“Remember, we are all unique!”
